Translating Post-War Japanese Aesthetics to Interactive Sound Environments

This project was made as part of my dissertation for an MSc in Sound Design. Inspired by the films of Yasujiro Ozu and the Japanese concept of “Ma” (Negative Space), I produced an 3D interactive experience, utilising an array of sounds I’ve recorded and sampled from Royalty-Free websites such as Freesound.org and BBC Sounds. I’ve also collaborated with Dr. Richard Craig (richardcraig.net) for his recordings of the Shakuhachi Flute.
